indian head dollar coins?
how can i get prices in old coins. i have an indian silver head dollar coin year 1851. a trade dollar silver year 1876, liberty silver dollar 1865, and 1867. 1870, 1843, 1846, 1848, 1876 sitting liberty dollars. 1900,1902 standing liberty dollars. and two face liberty dollars 1896 and 1882. i would like to get a price. thanks for your time and help . cornmer.
Some of the coins you list here are not US coins as you describe them. The 1851 silver dollar was the Seated Liberty type. The 1900 and 1902 silver dollars were the same type as the 1882 and 1896 dollars. The standing liberty design was not used on US coins until the 1916 50 cent coin.
Any genuine seated liberty dollar would be worth $100 or more, even in low grade. Ditto the 1876 trade dollar. However, based on the fact that you are listing a few coins that cannot be genuine, I question the authenticity of the rest of your collection. You need to show these to a reputable dealer that can pass judgement on whether your coins are genuine. and if so, you need to have them graded accurately since value is much greater for higher grade coins.
Was a 1999-P Susan B. Anthony proof dollar struck in silver?
... or did some goof coat a regular cupronickel dollar in silver? Also, if this is really silver, please tell me the fineness and weight if you know (so I can calculate melt value--I want to trade this for something I want!).
The 1999-P proof SBA dollar is the same as a modern quarter except for weight, it is made of outer layers .750 copper,.259 nickel (gives it a silver color) bonded to a pure copper core. It could have been silver plated but I don't see any reason for it. From the beginning the proof had a higher collector value, silver plating it would destroy that value.
