High Grade Unc
Bad grades freshmen year high school?
I really won't someone who honestly knows a lot about high school and college please.
Last year I was a freshmen and I got half A's and half B's (3.6 or 3.7 unweighted). Also, I couldn't do any clubs or anything last year. But I volunteered at the local animal shelter for about 100 hours.
Now I'm a sophomore and I feel I can do really good throughout the rest of high school. I will join clubs and a sport this year.
I want to know if I can still get accepted by good colleges that I want like UNC, which takes mostly in-state which I'm not. Not narrowing it down to just there, but similar.
You can still get in to a good school, if not a great school. Freshman year is always forgiven a little more, especially if you do well the rest of your time at school.
Continue to do well and join clubs and sports and continue volunteering if you can! Don't overwhelm yourself thoughb because you don't want to get burned out!

Becoming a doctor with low GPA and high SAT.?
I want to pursue the career of a doctor. The problem is that I don't have a high GPA. My GPA is around 2.6 or 2.7 because I was brought into algebra in seventh grade but I wasn't ready for it and that screwed my GPA. I scored extremely high on my SAT's(By the way if anybody knows what end of grade tests are, I scored 4's on those.). I'm just afraid if I apply to a college like North Carolina A&T or UNC I won't get in because of my low GPA. Could I possibly get into a good school or even ivy league with my assets?
Well, I'd recommend looking into community or junior colleges, and see if they have transfer agreements with the school of your choice. From my quick research, it sounds like that might be an option for you. Go to a community college, get your lower division work out of the way and rebuild your GPA, then file to transfer to UNC or another school of your choice.
I did a similar path, and now have my BA.
